Question: Pap Test - Embarrasing Question

MaggieM - Sun Jan 14, 2007 4:38 pm

I haven't saw this question on the board yet so here it goes: I am a 23 year old female, and every year when I have to go and have my birth control pills renewed I know I have to have a pap test. I've been on pills since I was 18 so you would think I would be used to this by now, but I can't get over it. I shave down there, and I am so embarrased by what the doctor is going to think of me. I know that they have probably saw a million of them but I want to know how doctors really feel about that sort of thing or if it even bothers them. To me its just a preference, I enjoy not having any hair down there. Is it a common occurance to see girls that do this? Can a doctor please help me put my nerves to rest? My yearly pap test is the worst thing in the world.
Dr. Wafaa Abdel-Hadi - Sun Jan 14, 2007 10:25 pm

Dear MaggieM,

I don't think we bother ourselves that much with the hair issue.. you go have your appointment....we just ,as you know...open the vagiba with a speculum, once we visualize the cervix, we do the Pap smear and then out. no need to panic...

Best regards,
