Question: bulky uterus after pregnancy

jess1985 - Fri Feb 02, 2007 4:15 pm

I'm 21 yearl old I had baby in may I never went to my post app. but I recently went for an exam and my uterus was very bulky my doctor said that my uterus should be smaller after so long after birth my app. was january 13 so I'm a lil worried she ordered blood wrok and a scan but no results have come in yet and well I can't wait what does a bulky uterus mean and also is it common for an uterus to be so bulky 7 months after having a baby and the reason I'm so worried is that my baby passed away and we are trying to have another and with no sucess yet I'm scared that maybe I won't be able to have anymore

Hello,

There many causes for enlarged uterus. Causes also differ if there is a diffuse or localized enlargement.

In general common causes for enlarged uterus include:
-Fibroid, a benign tumor
-Adenomyosis, Endometriosis,
-Hematoma at the uterine incision site if cesarean section is done
-Physiologically after cesarean section uterine size returns to normal after longer period than after for females experience vaginal delivery and may take up to 6 months.
- Malignant tumors
