Question: VAGINAL WHITE SORE

I am a 63-yr old female, not active sexually for the past several years. For the past couple of days I've been experiencing some discomfort in the vaginal area and finally took a look; there seems to be some sort of painful white sore there. I started using over-the-counter Clotrimazole 7 cream yesterday.
I have no noticeable discharge but have noticed not smelling very "fresh"for some time now. I thought maybe I was experiencing some dripping since I occasionally leak urine when I sneeze or Cough hard -- and that this accounted for the light odor.
It's probably time for a Pap smear since I haven't had one for 2-3 years, but didn't consider it urgent since I'm not active sexually. Also, I'm not sure about douching in my situation. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

Hello,
There are many causes for vaginal sores, that include:
Fungal infection (more likely)
Herpetic lesions
Benign and
Malignant ulcers.
Local examination is essential to better characterize the lesion, e.
g size, borders, presence of discharge , other lesions etc.
Investigations including biopsy for suspicious lesions may be recommended by your doctor.
When infection is suspected douching is not recommended by many to avoid ascending infection.
I advise you to seek direct medical consultation.
Keep us updated.
Best regards.
