Question: Labia scab

southernbelle - Tue Feb 06, 2007 4:13 am

Hello. Last night, I was taking a shower and I noticed that when the water hit my labia, it was a bit sore. I didn't think much of it because I had taken a horseback riding lesson earlier that day and thought it was due to that. This evening, I was using the restroom and I noticed a scab on my labia. There haven't been any sores or anything, just this one random scab that I'm extraordinarily worried about! By the way, I'm a virgin.
Here is all the information that is asked of me:
1. I'm 18 years old.
2. I'm female (clearly).
3. No relevant diagnoses.
4. I had my wisdom teeth out in December.
5. There is no family history of anything like this.
6. I take 60 mgs of Paxil daily and .5 mgs of Xanax as needed for Panic disorder.

Thank you so much to anyone who can help me out.

Hello,

This could be due to Dermatitis in that area.
Dermatitis is referred to different types of skin changes that are caused by infections, allergies, and irritants.

-Contact Dermatitis occurs due to skin contact with a substance that causes an allergic reaction (allergic contact Dermatitis)
or with an irritant substances (irritant contact Dermatitis).

There are many causes for contact Dermatitis some involve irritants such as soaps, certain creams and some may be due to allergy.

Avoiding the causing substance is the mainstay of prevention in addition to medications prescribed by your doctor.

- Seborrheic Dermatitis occurs on any part of the body where the skin is oily or greasy.

-Folliculitis is an infection of the hair follicles forming small, white-headed Bumps in hair follicles (roots).
Superficial folliculitis resolves spontaneously in a few days.

After these lesions resolve the skin in this area may scab and becomes dry.

Direct clinical examination is essential.

Best regards.
