I'm not sure whether to be worried or not. I'm in the middle of my period and I use a Diva cup which keeps the blood inside. This morning when I went to empty the cup, the smell was so strong and foul that I gagged. I'm thirty years old so I know that this is not normal but I'm wondering how worried I should be. I am not sexually active and have not been for nearly two years. What could cause this symptom?

Hello, A foul odor generally is indicative of infection so if this continues you should be seen by your doctor - even during your cycle.
Best wishes.
