I am 14 weeks pregnant and have been having a pretty bad head cold. I accidentally took NyQuil last night before I knew it was unsafe to be taking while pregnant. Will my baby be ok?

Hi Jmmom2,
A single dose of NyQuil is very unlikely to cause any harm. Most drugs need a longer exposure time to cause problems with the baby. In general, though, NyQuil should be avoided in pregnancy
As an aid for you, often your obstetrician will have a list of recommended medicines that are safe during pregnancy for you to use. The recommendations vary slightly from physician to physician so I usually suggest talking with your OB about what he/she feels is appropriate for you to take.
Best wishes.
