My doctor recently prescribed Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo as birth control and when I went to the pharmacy they gave me the generic, Tri Lo Sprintec. Is the generic as effective as the name-brand? I have heard differing reports, and as I am only 22 and not ready to be pregnant, having an effective birth control is very important.

Hello, Yes, the generic is just as effective as the brand names. Generic drugs are not inferior in any way. Another term for these is "multi-source" drugs, meaning other manufacturers can market them; not just the original maker. The most important thing here is to take them as directed.
Best wishes.
