Born and raised in Washington, DC. Have lived in nearby Maryland for most of the past 50 years, with a 7-year stay in Orange County, CA. Certified as Emergency Medical Technician since 1974 continuously. Former paramedic; Certified Critical Care Technician and non-invasive cardiology tech. Attended Montgomery College (art major), University of MD (fire suppression and EMS administration), UMBC (Crtical incident stress management) and Saddleback College (Emergency medical studies). Former businessman and life member of a local volunteer fire department where I spent 25 years as an active member (former president and line officer) and remain involved in an administrative capacity. I have deep experience in diagnostic cardiology and emergency medical care, having worked in ER, Critical Care, Cardiopulmonary Rehab, and acute care at such medical centers as National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda MD, and Georgetown Univerity Medical Center in DC, among others. Divorced and father of three grown children. I am a writer, working on a novel and also an inveterate blogger, writing mostly on sociopolitical issues elsewhere, and here mostly in the area of cardiology and emergency medical issues.
