Question: gave sheep injection, was stabbed by needle

We are not "farmers," as such, but have recently acquired some sheep. One of the sheep has some swelling in the knee, as diagnosed by the local vet. My wife, age 37, has been giving the sheep a daily injection for about 10 days. Today, she had given the sheep an injection and then was accidentally stabbed by the needle that had been inside the sheep. She has contacted her local physician.
Should she go to the emergency room? What are the possible problems (among several I can imagine) and treatments?
Thank you!

Hello,
I am not expert in this area, but I would advise you to consult both the veteranian Doctor and her Doctor.
They should communicate together as diseases that affect sheep are variable and are geographically different.
Examples of blood borne disease are viral infections.
If there is any center for infectious diseases close to your place it would be more beneficial to go for their consultation.
An important information, not all organisms that infect animals do not infect humans, and if so they do not surely cause diseases as the body immune system is able to control most of the foreign organisms that are introduced into our body efficiently in most of the times.
Keep us updated.
Best regards.
