Question: Penis Rash - please help!

darndarndarn - Fri Jan 26, 2007 7:02 pm

Okay so me and my girlfriend had sex (with a condom) a few days ago, and after we were done I noticed a few red bumps on the head of my penis. I thought nothing of it and the next day they were hardly visible. That same day we had sex again, this time after we were done, I noticed ALOT more red bumps on the head of my penis and a rash on my shaft. As the days went on I looked more carefully and saw that the tiny red bumps had a white head that just brushed off when I touched it as well as the skin easily peeled off on my shaft. Its been approx 4 days and there is no more lumps, just redness on my shaft and a few red spots that kind of look like spider veins on the head. Any idea what this could be??
Dr. Leigh Anderson - Fri Jan 26, 2007 9:25 pm

It sounds like you may be having an alergic reaction to Latex Condoms. People who regularly use latex condoms may be a higher risk for a latex allergic reaction. If you are having any sort of persistent or painful skin reaction on or around your genitals, it’s a good idea to see a doctor and get it checked out to determine what you are actually reacting to. You may need to switch to non-latex condoms. Try using a a non-latex condom and see if your rash clears up. In the event you continue to have a rash once you change condoms, you might want to check with an Urologist.

Good Luck

Thanks, is it possible to be allergic to latex condoms but not be allergic to example; latex gloves?
Dr. Leigh Anderson - Sun Jan 28, 2007 12:53 am

Yes, It is possible to have an allergic reaction to latex condoms and not to Latex gloves. Your Genitals are more sensitive than ypur hands.

Try and change the condoms, and you will see if you have an allergic reaction.

Take Care
