Question: Possible candida

I'm a 44 year old female who has been ill for about a month - very fatigued, lightheaded, loss of appetite (lost over 15 lbs), weak feeling, tingly fingers and toes, shaky, some abdominal discomfort and severe brain fog. I've had numerous tests - blood, sonogram of abdomen, stress test and ultrasound of heart, refraction test of gallbladder, upper GI, Colonoscopy. All of which have come up fairly normal. (I have Mitral valve prolapse and some Gastritis, Divercular stomach. Also have been diagnosed with two UTI's in the past month. Now here is the strange thing.....every time they give me an Antibiotic for the UTI - I have an allergic reaction (hives, Lip swelling, eyelid slightly swollen, and severe nausia) I've tried Ceprafloxin, Bactrim, and Macrobid - all with reactions. I've very scared to try anything else.... Now I was reading where if you take too much Antibiotic you can develop more severe reactions like Candida. I might have had a minor case of vaginal Candida a month ago but it went away on it's own and have no other symptoms. While taking one of the Bactrim I developed white patches on my tongue, but it has since disappeared. My question is could the Candida infection have spread and is causing me to feel so bad? I have read a little about systemic Candida - but how would I know if I had that? What kind of doctor would I see for this kind of problem? Also, I am having a complete oversion to sugary things - I feel sick if I eat sugary food. Can you please give me some advice?
Thanks!

Hello,
I advise you to consult an allergist or to follow up with the previous allergist who examined you before.
Your symptoms are suggestive of allergic reaction which could be due to certain type of food (sugars, in that case it is named intolerance) or infection.
The fact that you have been diagnosed with urinary tract infection makes infection a possible cause. Thus cultures should be done to identify the causative organism. In any case it should be done for the specific Antibiotic description.
The allergen-specific antibody test is usually done to test individuals for being allergic to one or more substances.
I advise you also to repeat the blood picture, sugar tests and do the glucose intolerance test.
If you have not been checked for the Vit B12 and folic acid blood levels, I advise you to do them.
Thyroid function tests are also advisable.
Regarding systemic candidaiasis, your symptoms are not suggestive in addition to systemic fungal infection occur in immunosuppressed individuals, your Doctor will not miss this. But it is possible to have a form of urinary or GI candida infection during periods of stress, after Antibiotics, or any other cause of temporary decline in the immune system or changes in the local environment.
Keep us updated.
Best regards.
