Question: hantavirus

I work outdoors and i walked past a mouse that had been squashed by a truck i was wondering if you can get hanta virus from a dead mouse like this?

User avatar This would not be likely. Generally hantavirus is contracted by breathing the virus found in feces of infected rodents such as might occur when cleaning a dusty area where it becomes airborne. But just walking past a dead mouse outside should not put you at risk.

If you are having concerning symptoms such as respiratory difficulty, you should be checked by a doctor.
