It's been six weeks after I had my baby and I am having brown vaginal discharge with a bad smell. I will be going to the doctor tomorrow for my postpartum checkup so I will be notifying him of this, but I am worried.
Does this mean I have an infection and if it does, what type of infection?
It is not continuous either. Sometimes my discharge is a clear or yellowish color, still with a bad smell, and sometimes it is brown.
Thanks!

Hello Bradens_mom21,
It is likely that what you are experiencing is still some old blood discharge from the birth. This can last several weeks. About 15% of women will still have some discharge at six weeks postpartum. Your obstetrician will be able to confirm this is the case and check for infections, etc. that can cause vaginal discharge.
Best wishes.
