User avatar Hi Jawny,

Unfortunately, this is a difficult question to answer because the outcomes from kidney transplant often are related to the initial cause of kidney failure. While most causes of kidney failure can be treated with kidney transplant, there are a few that will just end up destroying the new kidney. These cases require discussions with a transplant expert and nephrologist to determine if this risk is too much to make a transplant an option.

In general, though, people who undergo kidney transplants have very good outcomes. The patient's quality of life often goes way up since the need for frequent dialysis and many of the restrictions (food and fluid) go away.

Best wishes.
