41 year old male, non smoker, regular exercise.
Went skiing last week for 4 days and was struck by severe sudden Headaches as soon as I started to ski hard, a very sharp pain at the back of the head that quickly fades to a moderate Headache that lasts 4-8 hours. Also happen last night right at orgasm while having sex with my wife. This is very concerning to me. Only other medical conditions I've had are a coulpe of bouts of uvitis and a recent week of carotidynia which pred forte seemed to clear up(that was 2 weeks ago)
Dr. Safaa Mahmoud - Mon Dec 25, 2006 9:29 pm

Hello,

It would be helpful if you can inform us about how you have been diagnosed with Carotidynia and what was the cause of uveitis?

Headaches associated with orgasm is thought to be due to increased blood pressure which result in vasodilatation of the cerebral blood vessels.

Sex Headaches can affect anyone especially stressed individuals or those on certain treatments like decongestants.

However, the fact that it is your first time to feel this type of Headache and the similar episode during skiing . Moreover, the history of medical problems you have mentioned are very considerable and MRI of the brain is recommended.

Carotidynia is believed to be due to a virus and in a study of a likely associated with carotid sheath inflammation is found and MRI carotid is recommended in these cases.

This type of Headaches may indicate a serious underlying problem, of central cardiovascular events.

I advise you to consult your doctor as soon possible.
Best regards.
