Question: Weird Headaches !

Hello,
My dad's been having a terrible Headache for quite a while now. some of the symptoms are pain in areas around the eye bones & the cheek bones. The back of his head (sometimes full back side) or sometimes the right/left side.
There is a redness in one of the eyes, with a dropping eyelid. The pain starts to occur in from 2 to 3 hours after he falls asleep. severe, stabbing pain centers around one eye I forgot to mention that too. He was diagnosed by more than one doctor, they said its nothing serious (Thankgod) with the brain part, its sinus symptoms.
Do you have any suggestions on how to treat this or atleast minimize the pain cause I really feel helpless although I try making him relax from time to time; Somethings like herbs, or something to drink . . .
Its cold where we live, plus he smokes. (Just added it if it may help).
I'm really greatful in advance.
Thanks a million.

Hello,
This is very similar to migraine Headache although not typical.
Focal neurological symptoms may occur with the Headache and persist temporarily in case of a migraine variant.
One of these variants is ophthalmoplegic migraine in which a third nerve palsy, with ptosis may occur. Although rare , it is reported in some adults.
The attack usually lasts from days to months and resolves spontaneously.
A thorough neurological examination should be done to exclude conditions involving the parasellar, orbital, and posterior fossa which also present with Headache and ophthalmoplegia..
Sinusitis give similar Headache but the pain is often exacerbated by leaning forward or head movement,
the involved sinus are the sites where the Headache is felt and
tenderness on palpation of the involved sinus is present.
Direct clinical examination is essential for diagnosis.
If his condition is not improving, I advise you to follow up with his Doctor and to go for further investigations to exclude other causes.
Hope this information is useful.
Best regards.
