Question: Numbness in palm

angst2k - Sat Jan 06, 2007 2:43 am

Hi, I awoke to numbness in my palm 2 days ago. I was hoping this would go away but it hasn't. I did do some heavy lifting just prior to this, I was hoping I just injured it and it would heal. The area is about the size of an egg and it starts just above the wrist in an oblong shape. I am going to see how this progresses over the weekend and probably see a doctor next week but I thought I'd throw this out there and see what anyone thinks. Thank you in advance,

Steve

Hello Steve,

I hope your palm is feeling better. It obviously could be a result of trauma as you mentioned. Other forms of palm numbness usually have a distinct neurological pattern according to the distribution of the nerve involved. This seems to be not the case in your condition.

If you can please update your thread and let us know what your doctor advised.

Best regards,

Thank you for responding. My Dr likened this to carpel tunnel although it is just nerve damage. He said luckily the nerves repair themselves but it takes 3 months. He prescribed Naproxen and Vitamin B6 and gave me a wrist brace with a follow up in 3 months.

Regards,

Steve
