MY MOTHER IS 84 AND HAS TO HAVE A SHUNT IMPLANTED BECAUSE SHE HAS WATER ON THE BRAIN. ABOUT HOW LONG IS THE HOSPITAL STAY FOR THIS AND HOW SERIOUS IS THIS PROCEDURE FOR HER AGE ?

Hi Jrod36us,
I am not particularly familiar with this procedure in people your mother's age; however, I have cared for many children who have had shunts put in. The actual procedure does have some risks but is relatively straight forward. Recovery time is usually quite fast.
