Hi-I am a 44 year old female. Lately my 15 year old golden retriever has been having some sleep disturbances. He paces at night and pants excessively. This of course keeps me awake or disturbs my sleep. Some nights I might get 3-4 hours of continuous sleep, and then short sleeps - 1/2 hour or so at a time. Is this going to be a problem long term. I don't see any changes happening soon for my dog, so I have to know if this type of sleep is going to effect my health. Thanks for any info -

Hi!
Sleep is an essential of life that some people bank on and some exploit. Eight hours sleep is recommended by experts though 6 hours is a minimum to keep up with a hectic day-time activity. But it's a highly variable factor, which, depending on the individual, one can afford to lose some and others can't live without. Some don't mind small naps, while others can't do without an uninterrupted one. You may sleep as you like depending on its effect on your wakeful state.
Hope this helps.
