When flying recently, as we were preparing to land, I experienced a sudden severe stabbing like pain in left eye. Of all my previoius migraines, this was the worse pain I've ever experienced and it was very frightening. My eye began tearing up and I had to apply pressure to my eye and forehead. It's been 10 days and my left eye is still very sore near eyebrow. I've had 3 migraines since the flight and it has been years since I've had one. I'm due to fly again next week and I'm extremely nervous. I'm making an appointment with an opthamologist. Any other suggestions?
Thanks so much.

Hi pburton,
Cluster headaches exhibit these symptoms. These occur once every day for a few days, weeks or months. Can occur at approximately the same time each episode. Very severe stabbing pain on one side of the head that usually lasts only one or 2 hours. Pain is usually centered on one eye, which often becomes watery and red. It is quite wise for you to be evaluated by your opthamologist to rule out an underlying eye condition especially if there are visual changes.
Sincerely,
Rntdj
