Question: phantom cigarrette smell causes headaches ect

 cryssy09 - Thu Jul 29, 2010 5:56 pm

so a few days ago i was around people who smoke so maybe this is what brought this on but...

i have this disgusting cigarrette smell stuck in my nose and throat. it causes me to feel physically ill i.e. headache, nausea, and i even got lightheaded and dizzy pretty much out of the blue earlier today. i couldnt find Otolaryngology on this site, so since headache is a symptom i suppose this is as close to the proper forum as i can get.

anyhow, im really curious as to what could be causing this, especially since its been days since ive been exposed to any kind of smoke...

User avatar Hello,Smelling anything that is not in the environment is known as phantosmia.Upper respiratory infections, allergies, zinc deficiency, temporal lobe epilepsy, migraine, schizophrenia, sinusitis all could cause such symptoms .Aura of a migraine head ache, and sinusitis could be related to your symptoms. An ENT examination would be essential for you.
Best wishes.
