Hi, I have never done this before, but I feel like I have unanswered questions.
Last week, I was visiting my in-laws, and I was playing with the back of my earring, and I felt a lump (when I say lump, I mean hard lump like a stone) behind my ear. It is not painful, nor does it move around. My father had cancer so of course my immediate thought was that. I went to the doctor and he said my ears look fine, so he just wants to watch it for the next 2 weeks. Any thoughts, or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Jennifer,
It could be a lymph node or it could be nothing at all. I cannot judge from here obviously. An enlarged lymph node does not necessarily implicate cancer. It could be a normal reaction to an infection in the area of the ear, scalp, face.. Usually however, they are not stone hard. Clinically significant lymph nodes are those that are larger than 1 cm.
From what you've described it could also be the normal bony prominence behind the ear (called the mastoid process) and that you are just worrying too much. In such a case you should be able to feel another one on the opposite side.
Best regards.
