Question: pain/cramping behind the knee and calf

I am 20 years old/female/good health but not very active. Problem: about a month ago, and 2 days after getting an ultrasound of my leg, I got a huge painful leg cramp that was worse behind my knee and extended down into the calf, and was very painful to walk on. It lasted about a 1/2 an hour. Since then, I have noticed it a few times very mildly. But for 3 days now the cramping behind the knee has been fairly continous during the day, but is a mild form of cramping. Possibly related to this is that I have had continous leg pain(without cramping) for 4 months now. One doctor suggested a baker's cyst caused the cramping. I do not have a lump behind my knee, though, only sometimes a very slight puffiness/hot feeling and a very blue little vein. I have been very concerned about dvt before, so often I hold that leg very straight and I notice my joints in that leg get very stiff from me holding it like that sometimes. The calf is also somewhat tender/ sore in the back and sides with lots of pinching pain there. could it be a baker's cyst but not have a lump on the back of my knee? and could a small cyst cause calf pain almost daily? Thank you!

Hi nelly145,
Symptoms of a Baker's cyst may include stiffness, a feeling of tightness, swelling behind the knee, leg or foot. A MRI or ultrasound may be used in evaluation for identification of this condition.
Sincerely,
