Question: Thigh pain

Belle5691 - Mon Dec 04, 2006 12:21 am

I am a 41 year old Female. In October 2003 I had hysterectomy with a resulting MRSA. May 2005, I had a Bartholins Gland cyst with MRSA, had 5 surgeries during 9 day period of time for this. August 2005, had MRSA in right elbow, and lower left abdomen. Had 2 surgeries for this. In May was on Zyvox for 3 weeks by IV & then by oral form, August was again on Zyvox for 2 further weeks. May 2006, I developed severe pain in my right upper thigh on the outside. Feels like a very deep muscle ache. Had MRI, Xray, and Ultrasound--all with no results shown. Pain suddenly stopped (no resulting numbness, etc), and is now on Left upper thigh, occasionally in hip. Have had all same tests, again showing nothing. I was on Tramadol since May 2005, recently switching to hydrocodone. Pain is deep ache at times, but also very tender to touch, causing burning sensation. Firm pressure is less aggravating to the leg. I am diabetic, currently on Lantus, 20 mg per night. Diabetes is not well controlled, but this does not feel like normal neuropathy. I have had 2 c-sections, the 7 surgeries due to MRSA, an appendectomy at 10 years of age. Current medications are Tramadol or Hydrocodone as needed, Trazadone for sleep as needed, and Lantus 20 mg. It has been suggested that perhaps the length of time I was on Zyvox caused a problem, but MRI's, Xrays, and Ultrasounds seemed to rule that out. Any insight would be so helpful as doctor seems to be stuck at a guess of tendonitis, and not entirely sure of that.

I also had fallen and cracked a rib on my left side in November 2004. Just prescribed Lortabs for pain. And seemed to recover okay from this.
