Question: Knee MRI

Disp4115bh - Mon Dec 11, 2006 4:16 pm

Hello,

Recently I did something to my knee and was examined by an orthopedic surgeon. I can pain in one area, minor discomfort, and stiffness, and some swelling. He said it was either a sprain or a meniscus tear and gave me a script for a MRI. He told me to wait a week and to see if the pain was still there. He said if it was to get the test, if not to not worry about it. Its about a week later and the pain in there, but comes and goes and is not as intense. It is really intermitten. I found that sometimes these heal on their own if it is a tear and that a MRI may or may not be needed. I am a 26 y/o male who is not an athlete, but active. Should I just get the MRI or should I wait longer to see if the pain disappears completely? Thanks.

I should also add that there is little pain, but the knee is still very stiff and cracks and pops when I bend it. Thanks.
