My son age 24 cut his right ankle and required 6 stitches. When they did an xray it came back with a cyst on his tibia. Family doctor sending us to ortho on monday the 30th. What causes this and is this serious. Thank you

I suspect that your son has a simple bone cyst. These are generally incidental findings and are extremely common. (Probably most people have one or two but they are never found.)
The main issue with these is that there is an increased probablity of fracture through the area since the bone is thinned. There are several treatment options that the orthopedist can go over with you if treatment is warranted in your son's case.
