Question: Numb finger/Sore 4th metacarpal

Pauline Mason - Wed Jun 22, 2005 8:27 pm

Around 3 weeks ago I received a blow over the 4th metacarpal on R hand. No severe or immediate swelling and limited brusing. full range of movement to whole hand and fingers However for the past few days I have found movement of the ring finger painful, the base of the bottom of the finger is numb and I am getting shooting pains throught ring and little finger and up to my wrist. There is a distince lump over the impace site which is the size of a pea.

Do you think that this bone is just chipped and will take time to heal or do you feel it warrants further investigation. It is really quite painful at the moment. If it is a chip how long is it likely to take before it heals itself and the pain stops?

All assistance greatly appreciated.

cheers
