Question: 10 Y/O/B complains of chest pain

My son is complaining of chest pains and stomach discomfort, with diarrhea and headache. All day he has been feeling discomfort and laying down brings no relief. No fever.

User avatar Hello Momwith4kids,

Your son's symptoms may be due to a few possible things. It may be that he has a bit of a stomach infection (especially given the diarrhea and headache). It may also be that he has some gastroesophageal reflux, where the stomach acid comes back up into the esophagus (food pipe). It can cause a burning feeling in the center of the chest, although it would be less likely to cause headache and diarrhea. One other possibility would be that he has a malabsorptive problem such as lactose intolerance or celiac disease.

If his symptoms do not improve over the next few days or if they get worse it is probably time for him to visit his doctor.

Best wishes.
