Are there harmful side effects in a 4 year old female from administering Zithromax 250mg oral suspension given once daily beyond the prescription length of 5 days(example, giving Zithromax 250mg once daily for 8 days)?

 Hello,
I would not anticipate any adverse effects in this case. It may be more than is needed but is not likely to cause harm. Extensive and long-term antibiotic use, or stopping before the full treatment can lead to overgrowth of yeast and resistant strains of bacteria but with a single event, this should not be a problem.
