Question: heart problems in infant

 concerneddad - Wed Apr 13, 2005 9:38 pm

can congestive heart failure and hydrops be caused from being exposed to alot of alcohol while she was pregnant
Dr. Heba Ismail - Mon Apr 18, 2005 6:29 am

Dear concerneddad,
Hydrops has been proven to result from several fetal problems, none of which have been found to be associated with maternal alcohol drinking habits.
Profound fetal anemia, cardiac causes, intrauterine infections, metabolic disorders, genetic syndromes, tumour and mass causes, and chromosomal abnormalities have been found to cause hydrops.
