My 15 year old son is a wrestler and has ringworm. In the fall, we got perscription for bactroban cream when he had impetigo. Can this cream be used to treat ringworm?

Hi Mom42jw,
Bactroban will be ineffective against ringworm. Rinworm is a bit of a misnomer as it is not actually a worm or parasite. It is a fungal infection and will need an antifungal cream to clear up. You can try an over the counter antifungal cream such as clotrimazole or see your doctor for a prescription medication.
Keep in mind that ringworm needs to be treated for several weeks to ensure it doesn't come back.
