Am I happy because certain chemicals are there or are certain chemicals there because I'm happy?

Hello, You have just hit on the question of the century. It's kind of a chicken and egg situation. Actually both conditions are true. Happiness and a cheerful attitude breed more happiness but if your neurotransmitters are not working properly (chemical) you may find yourself being sad regardless of your life's circumstances and try as you might you can't get control of it without intervention.
Best wishes to you.
