I have an open laceration in my foot I stepped on a toothpick and 3/4 of the toothpick is in my foot, they opened it up in the er and I cant get in for surgery for 10 days. Is it ok to be open for so long?? should I try to got to another hospital?

Hi, The tooth pick has caused a penetrating trauma.Has it been removed? There are a couple of very important worries here. - tetanus (it is a tetanus prone wound)and - foreign body reaction(inflammation) and secondary infection. I urge you to consult a surgeon without further delay. Best wishes!
