Drug classes of AllerMax

Antihistamines (sedating type)

Mechanism of action of AllerMax

Competitively blocks the effects of histamine at peripheral H1 receptor sites; has anticholinergic (atropine-like) and sedative effects.

Indications of AllerMax

  1. Relief of symptoms associated with perennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis; vasomotor rhinitis; allergic conjunctivitis; mild, uncomplicated urticaria and angioedema
  2. Amelioration of allergic reactions to blood or plasma
  3. Dermatographism
  4. Adjunctive therapy in anaphylactic reactions
  5. Mild nighttime sedation
  6. Prevention of motion sickness
  7. Antinauseant
  8. Topical anesthetic
  9. Treatment of antipsychotic induced extrapyramidal symptoms

Contraindications of AllerMax

  1. Allergy to any antihistamines
  2. Asthmatic attack
  3. Not to be used in neonates

Adverse effects of AllerMax

  • CNS: Sedation, sleepiness, headache, nervousness, dizziness, euphoria
  • GI: Appetite increase, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain
  • CV: Palpitation, tachycardia, hypotension
  • Respiratory: Thickening of bronchial secretions
  • Hematology: Hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis
  • General: Weight gain
  • Other: Photosensitivity, rash, urticaria, angioedema
