Mechanism of action of Hyzine
Competitively blocks the effects of histamine at peripheral H1 receptor sites; has skeletal muscle relaxing, bronchodilator, antiemetic and analgesic properties.
Indications of Hyzine
- Treatment of anxiety, preoperative sedative, antipruritic
Contraindications of Hyzine
- Allergy to any antihistamines
Adverse effects of Hyzine
- CNS: Headache, nervousness, dizziness, tremor, seizure
- GI: Xerostomia
- Respiratory: Thickening of bronchial secretions
- General: Weight gain
- Other: blurred vision
