Question: real bad coughing

 sapphire85 - Tue Nov 02, 2004 1:39 pm

I am 19 and have been having really bad coughing for the past month sometimes i cough to the point where i throw up; nights i wake up and cannot breath and have to stick my head out of the window, feels as if i am having an asthma attack. i also smoke on occasion, and light yellow and white thick mucus also comes up. I have asked my friends and some say i might have brochitus----- hope i spelled it right. Does any one have any suggestions ? I have no history of an asthma realated problems. I also sound like an 80 year old man who been smoking a pack a day.

User avatar Hi!

Your description sounds very much like paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea. Your friends could be right in diagnosing bronchitis; nevertheless, it would be prudent to exclude other causes.

Hope this helps.
