Question: unexpected weight loss
|remy03 - Thu Oct 20, 2005 10:34 pm||
I am writing over concern for my mom, She is 70 and was recently diagnosed as diabetic, which type I am not sure. My mom was very active until this year when she has been in a lot of pain (leg, hip). She is now using a walker as she can not lift her one leg. She has lost over 40 lbs in 9 months &r 4 lbs in the last 2 wks. She is down to 121 lbs. She has had x-rays, MRI's, bone density tests, and has been to a neurologist. Nobody can seem to figure out why the weight loss. Could this much loss be from the diabetes? She does monitor it very well and takes some medication, but no insulin. What type of a specialist would you recommend for a diagnosis as the doctor she has been seeing has never come in the room to speak to her, only the Phy. Assist. They live in Rogers, AR 72758. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!
