Question: Ovulation after an IUD was removed

 eephillips7 - Tue Feb 28, 2006 1:25 pm

Hello, I am trying to get pregnant and had an IUD removed Jan. 23, 2006. The furtility calculator says I will ovulate from Feb. 26 to Mar. 4. Is this true after just having the IUD removed?

User avatar Hi eephillips7,
To my knowledge, generally speaking, provided there was no infection or damage related to the IUD, most women do not have difficulty becoming pregnant after it's discontinuation providing there was not already an existing underlying condition. The Mirena IUD may cause a delay in the return of menstrual cycles therefore delaying ovulation.
Sincerely,
Theresa Jones, RN
