Is there any other way of getting genital warts other than through sexual contact?
|Dr. Tamer Fouad - Mon Apr 10, 2006 3:38 pm||
Genital warts are caused by infection with human papilloma virus (HPV). HPV invades cells of the the skin through contact with microabrasions. This commonly occurs as a result of sexual contact.
Like everything else there are exceptions to the rule, as rarely happens when HPV is transmitted indirectly from fomites or in infants via passage through an infected vaginal canal at birth.
