Question: Flight to Kuwait

 cdwatnsu - Thu Feb 22, 2007 4:43 pm

My wife just flew to Kuwait on February 8, 2007. She was ovulating around the time of February 3-6. We had intercourse during those days. Her period was due around February 17 or 18, a Saturday or Sunday. Well, the flight to Germany and Kuwait was a total of 17 hours. They are 9 ahead of me in Kansas. On Saturday, the day she expected her period, she bled for an hour, lightly, and then it went away. Now, Thursday, still no period. This is her first time flying through all of the different time zones. She took a pregnancy test on today, but it was negative. It was the home pregnancy test, urine based. Could she be pregnant, or is it just the jet lag that affected her period? How does jet lag, for the first time, affect a menstrual cycle? How long would it push the period back? Would it make it not happen at all , or would it just come later? How much later?

User avatar Hi cdwatnsu,
The negative urine pregnancy results may just simply mean the test was completed to early. If she has still not had her menstrual cycle, repeat the pregnancy test. Another suggestion would be to have labwork (serum pregnancy test) which identifies pregnancy earlier. Best wishes.

Thanks! She found out she was pregnant on Monday, and should be on her way back to the US in the next week or so!

User avatar Hi cdwatnsu,
Congratulations is certainly in order. May she have an uneventful pregnancy and a safe labor and delivery. Best wishes.
