Question: late period

 lkoq58 - Mon Jan 03, 2005 3:41 pm

I have been on Ortho Cyclen for a few months but had to stop taking it when my insurance expired. I think the first date of my last period was November 18th. (My calendar got thrown away.) My fiancee and I had sex a few times after that period, but used condoms every time. I've never had a late or skipped period, so I'm a little worried that I've not started yet. I have had two negative pregnancy tests (one home, one at the student health center) so I don't know what could be causing me to skip. Is it still possible for me to be pregnant or do you think it's most likely something else? My cycle has never varied more than three days and I don't think anything in my life has changed enough to affect my cycle.

MY DOCTOR TOLD ME THAT SOMETIMES WHEN YOU QUIT TAKING BIRTH CONTROL OR EVEN CHANGE BIRTH CONTROL YOUR PERIOD CAN BECOME IRREGULAR.

I know that can happen. I've been on birth control fairly consistantly since I was 16 because of heavy flow/cramps. I was off of it twice before, both times about two months and I stayed right on schedule. I wasn't even a day late or early those times. I'm probably just over-reacting but not running like clockwork is unusual for me so I'm a little concerned.

BEING STRESSED ABOUT IT CAN MAKE IT BE LATE AS WELL. SOMETIMES KNOWING THAT YOU AREN'T ON BIRTH CONTROL AND THAT THERE IS A CHANCE OF BECOMING PREGNANT CAN CAUSE A LOT MORE STRESS THAN WE THINK. OUR BODIES REACT TO STRESS IN WEIRD WAYS SOMETIMES. I KNOW HOW SCARY IT CAN BE. IT WAS 38 DAYS BEFORE I GOT MY PERIOD LAST MONTH. I USUALLY GET IT EVERY 30 DAYS.
