User avatar Hi babajules,
Vaginal dryness and irritation can be a sign/symptom of perimenopause. As menopause approaches estrogen levels decrease and vaginal secretions diminish. Vaginal moisturizers (water based lubricants) may provide temporary relief. Also application of estrogen through the use of a creme can be applied and may be effective. You may want to discuss this with your physician to rule out any other underlying cause besides perimenopause. According to studies on menopause, these suggest that women who engage in regular sexual activity experience a lower incidence of vaginal dryness. Again, I encourage you to discuss this with your physician.
Sincerely,
Rntdj
