Question: Month long periods with lots of pain!

 pei pei - Mon Nov 16, 2009 1:38 pm

Hi, I am 26 year old female I have been having my periods last for a month at a time. I have had really bad cramps and tylenol and advil won't help the pain. The bleeding gets really heavy where I can't even go to work because I will bleed through my pad and my clothes. This has been going on for the past year. I am not on birth control and I haven't been for almost 4 years.

User avatar Hello,
When women have this problem, oral contraceptives are usually the first line of treatment if you are a candidate for them. This can help to get the periods regulated and reduce the amount of bleeding. See your doctor about possible treatments in addition to this. Excessive bleeding can lead to anemia if not controlled.

Best wishes.
