Question: Is Adderall harmful to take while pregnant?

 psxixlovedxyoux - Tue Mar 09, 2010 6:18 pm

Is the prescription Adderall harmful to an unborn baby if the mother takes it? If so, what are the risks?
Debbie Miller, RN - Tue Mar 30, 2010 12:42 am

User avatar Hello,
Risks are not actually known since we do not do testing on pregnant women, but Adderall is a stimulant and as such, it is best to avoid it in pregnancy. Since it hasn't been positively associated with birth defects, I would not worry if you have taken it at some point in the pregnancy, but you should not continue it.

Best wishes.
