Question: don't know the consequences

 kimo2076 - Wed Apr 06, 2005 12:47 pm

my sister is suffering from a case in which her uterus is stuck to her stomach and intestines. i don't know the scientific name for that. she got two opinions from two doctors. the first says she doesn't need to do surgery but the other says it is necessary to do it. she doesn't know what are the consequences. can she live ok with it. she had a surgery before to remove tumors from her uterus. what is the best for her to do.

Dear Kimo2076,

your sister got this condition following the surgery she had to remove the tumors.
How old is your sister?what type of tumor did she have?

and is this condition causing her problems...any pain?!

the decision depends upon many factors....her age....marital status...does she have kids or not?....if this is bothering her...and the type of tumor...was it benign, malignant ...or just fibroid?

i think if it's not causing her any troubles...if she's married with kids and it's not affecting her fertility...i believe you should just leave it...don't do surgeries...because it will cause more adhesions...and more intestines will be stuck into each others.

but how come her uterus is stuck to her stomach?!?! are you sure that her stomach is stuck as well?! that is just strange...check it out again please,ok?

best regards,

hi dr wafaa.
thank u for your reply. about her tumors they were just fibroid. and she had this surgery about four or five years ago. she's never been married and she is 45 years old. about the pain i don't know because she is living in egypt and i live in usa. about her stomach i am not sure also but this is what the doctor told her when she had ultrasound. please if you have any other information tell me. thank u

Dear Kimo2076,

well, fibroids are totally benign...they happen alot...if she's not married, and ofcourse not intending to have kids at that age.AND the condition's not causing her any troubles...then DEFINATELYshe shouldn't do surgery for something that is not bothering her...and the surgery wouldn't solve a major problem...got what i mean?!

unless she is suffering from some sort of pain....intestinal problems from the adhesions...that's another issue....

see what she's complaining of and accordingly you can decide if she should do it or not.
and ask about that stomach issue please?! may be that's her main complaint....but make sure it says so in any of her medical/radiological reports.

Best regards,
