Question: Foul odor.

 djones2613 - Wed Apr 06, 2005 5:22 pm

I am 39 years old and over the past few months I have had a realy foul vaginal odor the week before my perod starts and after. I am also having some bladder leakage. Could this possibly be symptoms of menopause?

User avatar Hi djones2613,
Unusually vaginal odors should prompt an alert for a medical exam. Have you had a recent gynecology exam? Odors may be caused for a number of reasons from a bacterial infection, cervical anomalies, etc., to more serious illnesses. Symptoms of perimenopause may range from menstrual irregularities to vaginal dryness and urinary changes. However I would be very hesitant on implying that perimenopause is your problem. I would suggest an evaluation by your health care provider.
