I am 36 years old have 6 children and had a tubal ligation in 10/03. My periods have always been on time. I am about 3 weeks late. I took a home test and it was negative. What could been going on?

Hi fl cat,
Your tubal ligation, were you tubes tied or were they cut as well? Changes in hormone levels that begin occuring in perimenopause causes irregularities in menstrual cycles. Symptoms vary in women, some have increased frequency of menses, others less. Some notice a heavier flow, others less, etc. It is important to be evaluated by your physician/gynecologist to ensure this is the cause.
