Question: Pap Smear

 kh23 - Tue Jul 12, 2005 5:32 pm

I'm a 23 year female who recently (5 days ago) had her first pap smear. The doctor said it would not be painful, but when he inserted the speculum it was very painful. I'm still a virgin, and during the consultation he didn't asked me if I was sexually active. He only asked me if I was sexually active after I told him I was in pain during the exam, but he continued anyway. I'm not in pain now, but I'm really worried he may have torn something. I'm really freaked out about this. I feel like he messed up by not asking me beforehand if I was a virgin, and he did an unnecessary procedure. Did I really need to have a pap smear? Is it possible he may have done some damage? Thank you for your advice.
