Question: Larascopic vs Laparoscopic surgery

 alexand1 - Mon Sep 26, 2005 12:31 pm

I am 22 and recently found out I have a dermoid cysts. I have had painful intercourse, and lower back pain for the last 3 years. My doctor believes it is due to my cyst. I've had two different doctor's opinions and one recommended larascopic surgery and the other recommended laparoscopic surgery because she has more control.

What's the difference between the two and which is a better option? I have never had surgery before and I just started my new job last month and cannot really afford a long recovery period.

User avatar Hello,
Laparoscopic surgery is typically a minimally invasive procedure where a very small incision (bandaid incision) is made allowing visualization of internal structures by a camera, therefore providing more control.
