Patients with liver and/or kidney dysfunctions, acute respiratory failure, and acute glaucoma attack must take Xanax with caution. Xanax is contraindicated to patients suffering from depressions with psychomotor retardation, bipolar depression, and psychotic symptoms. The use of the drug in persons with severe depression and/or suicidal tendencies requires continuous attention and minimal initial doses.
